Howard Dean has declared an American defeat in Iraq:

Saying the "idea that we're going to win the war in Iraq is an idea which is just plain wrong," Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean predicted today that the Democratic Party will come together on a proposal to withdraw National Guard and Reserve troops immediately, and all US forces within two years.

Here's the thing, more than likely we will be done in two years, and Dean knows it. The insurgency is all but defeated, and the elections are going to be the coup de grace. What Dean is doing here is positioning the Democratic Party to look as if they forced Bush's hand, when he does come out in the next few months, and declare that U.S. troops will begin to withdraw.

Truth is, he has already said that it looks like that's going to be what will happen. Dean pronouncement is bald-faced bluster. Sound and fury signifying nothing.

Reliapundit says:

Dean either knows the truth and lies to hurt Bush - and doesn't care if it also hurts the USA and our troops - and is therefore a partisan hack and a traitor, or he is a stupid jerk whose brain is too addled from his ski-bumb years (when he DODGED THE DRAFT and probably began DECADES OF SMOKING MARIJUANA - I speculate that this is the case because he sounds EXACTLY like so many potheads I used to know!).

In any case, the more he opens his mouth the better. He is the best thing to happen to the GOP in YEARS!
