I love stuff like this, if only because it's a good jumping off point for lots of fun arguments:

David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler are my favorite Rock n' Roll guitarists, but it's just not right to not give best solo of all time to the mighty Jimmy Page. The Stairway to Heaven solo is amazing, and so is his work on Since I've Been Loving You. And now that I think about it, what about Achilles Last Stand, or Dazed and Confused?

The dude rocked.

Some great Rock n' Roll guitarists who aren't mentioned on this list include Stevie Ray Vaughn, Rick Derringer, Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher, Marc Ford (Black Crowes), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Steven Stills, Paul Bogan, Frank Zappa, John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra), Jerry Garcia, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Carlos Alomar, etc. etc. etc.
